Getting Cool

Dear Family & Friends.

It is about time that we update our blog.  The weather is really cooling off now.  It is getting dark about 6:00 PM and is beginning to freeze at night.  We put our studded tires on last week.  We have had a busy October so far.  We really enjoyed General Conference.  The messages were so timely.  It is a challenge with the 8 hour time difference. We were able to watch the Saturday sessions live at 6:00 and 10:00PM.  We watched Priesthood recorded Sunday morning.  We drove to Farsund and watched the Sunday sessions with our investigators, the Evangers.  They really enjoyed conference. On the 8th and 9th we drove back down to Farsund and rode to Stake Conference in Drammen with the Evangers.  They really enjoyed conference, but it wore Sister Gormley out.  We drove about 16 hours.  Last week we had our Zone training back in Stavanger.  We fed about 32,  We really enjoy the missionaries.  They are such faithful servants.  We enjoyed seeing our Mission President Hill and Sister Hill.  They are so gracious.  We had a nice dinner with them and the other two senior couples from our Zone, the Torgesens and the Cardons.  We have been teaching one of our sisters to drive, Sister Etchells. She passed her test this past week.  We are so happy for her.  If they don't get their licence it really limits where they can serve.  We are now teaching Sister Davidson.  It brings back memories of teaching our daughters.  We had a special week-end.  The Evangers were baptized.
They are so happy.  We have become very close friends.  It has been fun to help the Sisters teach them.  We are headed for a Sister missionary conference in Oslo tomorrow.  Sister Gormley will be teaching and I will be cooking. We will come back through Haugesund and teach a couple remote people with the missionaries there.  We are excited.  We had 14 YSA come out to Institute Friday night.  A record for us.  We really love these YSA's.  I was able to ordain Alemat, from Ethiopia,,an Elder last Sunday.  When I gave him his Priesthood line of Authority he cried,  He is a special young man. I was able to sub for Seminary a couple times this week.  We have 12 students in early morning Seminary.  They are so faithful. We are truly being blessed on our mission.  We miss all of you, but know that the Lords needs us here.
Alma 29:10 And behold, when I see many of my brethren truly penitent, and coming to the Lord their God, then is my soul filled with joy; then do I remember what the Lord has done for me, yea, even that he hath heard my prayer; yea, then do I remember his merciful arm which he extended towards me.
